My journey into the world of art started in my childhood with simple pencil drawings. No doubt my mother's love of art rubbed off onto me asmy mother was an artist and for a time, a student of John Dollery. She exhibited and sold a number of works in 1980's and for a while she taught, I suspect all this activity fired my own interest.
I have been painting on and off since then. I started out with Oils, learning from my mother who taught me the basics. In 1995 I decided to try my hand at pastels and after a while was doing works on commission as well as projects for myself. In 2007 I took up Oils again I had to re learn many of my skills. I am really enjoying the medium and find I prefer it to others I have tried.
I love telling a story through my art and have done a variety of works including portraits, landscapes, seascapes, many animals and birds and even the odd train. I received a highly commended from the Mentone & Mordialloc Art Society for one my recent works which you can view on my website at www.jeninebell.com.au.
For a while I had a group of artists coming to my home for painting workshops. It was a very casual workshop forum and I was always surprised how much we could learn from each other by sharing ideas. I am hoping to restart this group again in the near future now that other commitments have been completed.
